The sun rays danced to the tunes of the fluttering drapes over the arena. The light hues of peach made it seem like dawn had lingered on. The wind carried a mixed aroma of fresh elements: the flowers on the décor, the wet grass, the smell of old wooden chairs, and coffee being brewed somewhere in the vicinity. It was similar to the mixed emotions that generally surround a wedding. Happiness, anxiety, excitement – a whole emotional rollercoaster hidden behind each painted lip or curled moustache.

Inside the rooms, the gold jerry on the saree and panche competed for attention with the shining gold of the jewellery. While silk was being straightened into pleats, both the bride in the groom stood feeling the same, in different rooms. Giggles surrounded the rooms as friends made merry stealing glances and conveying messages from one room to another.

The bridal bunch welcomed the groom to the family showering him with flowers symbolising all the love and blessings that they were to receive from that day forward. Though he was involved in the ceremonies, his eyes were in pursuit of the one and only.

With so much frenzy all around him, he found calm within himself when he finally laid eyes on her.

It was finally time. Time to let the world know, to scream loud and clear:

“SHE WAS MINE, AND I, HERS. WE WOULD FOLLOW EACH TILL THE END OF THE WORLD AND VOW TO MAKE EACH OTHER SMILE AS LONG AS WE LIVED.”
