It’s finally a yes from everyone in the family and time to set a date. But uncertainties like the pandemic or non-availability of a good date is not in our hands. If the priest or the family head has set a date that’s extremely far off from today, you might be thinking that it’s too early to start the process of planning the wedding. But it’s never too early. Apart from the fact that you can have a long courtship period with family approvals, there are so many more factors to be taken into consideration.
Venues get booked a year prior
During the wedding season, there are about 30,000 weddings that happen in a DAY in India. Imagine how many couples will be eyeing the same venue as you on the same date! As a venue, we have had bookings for 2020 in 2018. We have proof if you don’t believe us. Don’t delay to lock in on your favourite venues before it’s too late.
Time to source and allocate budget
One of the biggest and most extravagant industries in India, weddings are an expensive affair. And budgeting is an underrated task in the whole wedding process. If you have enough time before the wedding, you have the liberty to plan for and allocate your resources in a better manner. Or talk about the Sabyasachi Lehenga long enough so that your family might give up and pool in to buy you one. (Don’t forget to send us a picture if this trick worked.)
You and Fiancé can be more involved
In the past few years, we have observed couples being less involved with the whole wedding planning process for the lack of time. Though the ideas originate from them, the reality sees only family members, aka parents/siblings with the blueprint. Couples are commonly seen overworking before the wedding to take some time off after. A long engagement period means that both of you get to participate in building the day of your dreams. It gives us joy to see our couples walking around our property deciding small details.
Save money on a wedding planner
Hiring a wedding planner has its own advantages. But when you have enough time to plan and sketch out the wedding, you can skip the planner and ask for a coordinator instead. Someone who will run the show on the D-Day according to your master plan. This would save you money on hiring a planner and it would be your plans in action on your wedding day.
Know your vendors better
Spending some time in getting to know the people in charge of the big day is extremely crucial. If you have all your hopes riding on how the décor or food or photography will turn out, then it’s even more crucial as these people are now in charge of your emotions during the big day. With more time before the wedding, you can go see for yourself how the vendor performs in different weddings, instead of looking at pictures from a phone. Soak in the ambiance to see if they are the right fit for you, as you have plenty of time to decide who you chose to go with.
Plenty of time to ace the dance
Be it the first dance after you’re married or the lyrical dance with your boy gang or even a sassy number with the girls, it all needs practice. And that doesn’t mean just a video call explaining the steps. Get together twice or thrice a month, buy a lot of snacks(healthy) and practice till your sweat touches the ground. Two birds with one stone – A perfect dance number and a good workout.
More grooming time
Last but not the least, planning early means you get to be the best version of yourself for the wedding. You can strategize to get lots and lots of beauty sleep or set reminders to drink enough water to help your skin clear up. The more time you have, the more organic you can be with your approach towards self-care.
