How to plan a wedding staying at home !

Stuck at home but wedding around the corner? Worry not! Here are some pointers to help you plan the perfect wedding while you’re stuck at home, quarantined. Even if you don’t have a wedding planned in the near future, some of these are still things you can do for when the day arrives.

HANDWRITTEN INVITES:

Imagine inviting your guests in the royal decree with a handwritten scroll! The lockdown has given us ample amount of time to bring out the artist in us, so why not use it and make handwritten cards for your wedding? You could personalize the message for your near and dear ones, or you could also go the extra mile and wax seal your invites. There are plenty of DIY videos on the internet to help you with this little project. In case you are not the artsy kind, you could rope in your nieces and nephews and give them a summer project to keep them occupied and get your work done!

ACE THE WEDDING DANCE:

This one is for the workaholics. The procrastinators. There’s no excuse anymore. No more travelling to work, no more fatigue from the travel. It’s time to open that video you had saved months ago and start learning the dance. The universe has now given you time to practice your sangeet moves. If you weren’t planning on having a sangeet, here’s your reason to have one now! The advancement of technology will in fact help you have a sangeet practice virtually with your cousins and friends. Why else did they put webcams on laptops, right?

GIVE YOURSELF A MAKEOVER AT HOME:

With all this spare time, everyone is getting back to their hobbies or long-lost personal interests. Maybe it’s time you united with one such too – sleep! Begin with getting your beauty sleep aligned with a good workout schedule to see the change of the decade in your body. Everyone has been saying that Earth is taking a break to rejuvenate and that’s what you should do too! This makeover can be physical or emotional, this is the perfect time to take a break from everything and get yourself ready for the new chapter in your life.

DO IT YOURSELF DECOR:

It’s time to open out the saved Pinterest boards and actually get to work. In case you’re having a big wedding, DIY décor might be a little too much to take upon, but there are sure to be some events at home for which you can prepare. You could dig out pictures of the bride and groom from a young age and make a timeline of their lives up until how they met. It would become a group project at home and something that could increase the bond during the few months before the wedding.

CALLS WITH VENDORS:

You can now have longer meetings with all your vendors over the call without having to rush to work. If you’re having a wedding planner, you could do a joint video call to figure out from them how the planning will happen in the following months or you could become your own wedding planner and take it up with various vendors yourself.

DESIGN YOUR WEDDING DRESS:

Explore multiple websites and look for the muse that helps you decide how you want to look on your D-day. It may lie in the back of your mother’s wardrobe; you won’t know it until you pull it all out. Imagine setting a whole new trend at your wedding when your guests ask you which designer made your clothing and you point to yourself! You can always ring up your old tailor and send her pictures of your idea so she can make a sample for you to try.

BUILD YOUR WEDDING WEBSITE OR AN APP:

With all the social distancing norms, you’re not allowed to deliver invites to your guests. Building a website or an app is the way forward to invite your guests. There are many free ways to create a website with options of rsvp, hotel booking, travel confirmation and what not. There are also options of having your wedding registry online and linked to the website or app. Inviting guests has never been simpler!

PLAN YOUR POST WEDDING MADNESS:

Yes, you could take the time to make an elaborate honeymoon itinerary. Or the travel plans if you are moving out of the country/state immediately after the wedding. If you’re moving into a brand-new house just after you’re married, there has to be a whole level of planning dedicated to just that. You could plan a wedding registry that helps you get things that you might need for the house, or you could do some shopping yourself, not just for the essentials, but to make the house ‘yours’.

These are just some pointers to help you get started on the journey, but there are plenty more to keep you on your toes when it comes to the planning of your wedding. Don’t lose hope or enthusiasm just because you’ve been told to sit at home, look at it as an opportunity to plan the perfect wedding of your dreams. What else would you do to plan a wedding at home?
